zaber,
Are you able to play the avi-divx file directly? meaning do u have the divx version 3, 4 or 5.02 , codecz installed. If so, tmpgenc should open/read your file directly. If not and its something related to the audio encoding, you could use virtual dub to extract the audio (direct audio copy, File , Save Wav) and use this wav as the audio portion of your encoding, and the avi directly fed into the Video section.

i did one of these yesterday...dont remember exactly step by step, but it was a divx 5.02 avi,,,fed it into tmpgenc at first it said it would take 4 hrs, to encode,,came back to check on it after an hour and a bit,,and the tmpgenc window was black. checked on the file size and it was reading 1.2 gig using KVCD 2.0, i knew something went wrong. Turns out that it did encode the movie and it was still encoding something. all black display though. I ended up cutting it with tmpgenc's MpegTools. Selected the part that had encoded, 580 megs, and dumped the rest.
One playable kvcd.
bonne chance....

firstly, download the right codec, I recommend the nimo codec pack..download that thru doom9.net

secondly, open your divx thru virtualdub..turn on full processing on the audio tab.. save the wav to your hard drive...

while your at it, check the movie information in the file menu,, to check what the format (pal/ntsc/ntscfilm) and framerate..write that down

thirdly, open tmpgenc, open the divx video, put it the sound that you just saved into the hard drive....now load your template.. then check all the settings in tmpgenc are all correct....

now encode!!!!
