KVCD: CQ settings and B/P picture spoilage?

k, finally finished Training Day (122 min). i did 2 instances: the only difference was the picture spoilage settings within the CQ settings. one is default and the other is 0 B/P picture spoilage as in the newest template. file sizes were quite different.

settings are:

CQ 75
max bitrate 2100
GOP 1-18-3-1-0

with default CQ settings (B,P picture spoilage at 0,20), the final size was 786 MB, whereas in the new template settings (B,P picture spoilage at 0,0), the final size was 918 MB.

IMO, difference in quality was indiscernible, so im concluding no need for the change. KWAG, im not too familiar with GOP structures and was wondering what kind of differences would occur had i used 12 or 15 or whatever with these CQ settings?

**note: i noticed that audio seemed to trail off during certain long scenes, but would jump back in place when hitting a major scene change (new I-frame). i think it has to do woth the closed GOP setting. the templates have always left this unchecked, but i had checked it in my previous encodes and had no problems. going back to old school... FYI.

If you are going to use the 0,0 for P and B in spoilage, the CQ can't be 75. It's too high.
Drop your CQ to 60 or 65. That's why the file size was so big.

Try the 704x480 BETA template. Just changed a few moments ago. You're going to see something completely different!
