KVCD: encoding an anime takes forever?
 

humm i was encoding an anime with the new template and tie time was longer than with the old ones the lenght is 1 hour and 37 minutes and it says remaining time 6 hours and 37 minutes ?? before was only 3 and a half MAX

yeah my encoding time doubled too- before it took about 3.5 hours and now it takes about 7 hrs- probably because of the increase in resolution

Same here... the encoding times are crazy. No fault of kvcdplus or even tmpgenc. Just heavy duty number crunching. Tossing in temporal smoothing seem to just add to the pain ;)

You guys do your encoding while you sleep right :lol:
Or do you watch TMPEG encoding :P

i think its the 2.54 version of tmpgenc vs the faster 2.53.

my encodes kicked up from 5hrs to 7hrs running time. i dont use a temporal smoother or avisynth at that. just load the d2v file and load the template and hit start... go to bed... and wake up, so it doesnt really matter anyway.

I never let my machine run overnight (or indeed unattended) as I believe that this is a fire waiting to happen! I usually encode in work ... may as well use the BBC's electricity as opposed to my own!!

That's a very good point. I have a p4 1600 and a p3 733 that I run just about 24 hrs a day and most of the time I'm not home. Does anyone know if the hardware monitor in the bios will shut things down when things get too hot? I don't want to burn down my house :(

no the BIOS nor other device will shut down when they get too hot what the system will do is lock it self forcing you to reboot. But if you are not at home when that happends it would be worse because they may get even more hotter than before and start a fire .HOWEVER I HOPE THAT NEVER HAPPEND TO ANY OF US OR ANY one else

you may find some software over the internet that monitors your temps on the CPUs and if they get too hot it will shut down dont remember the name of the software


And i sleep really close to the PC so if anything happends i would be the first to know and my PC has 8 Fans on the case blowing in and out and the CPUses have fans of 7000RPM and the Power Supply has 2 fans

the only thing that concerns me is the Power Supply when i am away from Home i dont know it gives me a weird feeling.

However i only leave on when i am at home
