KVCD: LBR Template doesn't fit 180 minutes on 1 80min cd-r ?
 
Kwag,

I've been trying to put LOTR onto one cd using the lbr template, so far I'm upto putting part one in mpg form with sound + perm subs and that part has been predicted to be 930.72mb in size so how does the lbr template manage to fit 180mins onto one cd where as the first part to lotr is 101mins at 930mb which as everyone know thats too big to fit onto a 80min cd.

so either I have done somethign wrong or it doesn't fit 180 mins onto 1 80 min cd.

What do you mean when you say "that part has been predicted to 930.72MB" 8O. You predict to the file size you want. If you mean the sample makes an estimated predicted final size of 930.72MB, then you just have to lower the CQ value and run another sample. You do this until your sample targets the size you want for your final size, which is (800MB - AudioSizeMB).

no, tmpgenc predicted the the whole of disc one using the lbr template would be 930mb in total.

tmpgnec predicted the file size at the end of the project wizard

Ah!, that's what I suspected :!: . Don't use TMPEG's file prediction. It's far cry from the one we developed. Use this: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2102
Or even better, use SansGrip's KVCDPredictor to do it automatically.

SansGrip's KVCDPredictor - is that the file predictor in the modified fitcd with filters?

what confuses me is I done a encode of part one when the subs where a mess (managed to sort that prob out) and it came out at near 600mb so I'm comfused.

but all that does is predict the size of the sample file, what do I need to find the total file size not the sample file size?

In it's simplest form, if you're encoding at 24fps, you can just do this: Your CD-R is 800MB ( as that's the capacity for MODE-2 VCD ), so SampleSize = (800 - AudioSizeInMB) / 60
If your audio size is say 100MB, then 800 - 100 = 700 and then 700 / 60 = 11.66MB
The reverse is true. 11.66 * 60 = 700 :D So you play with the prediction CQ value until the sample size is 11.66MB, in this case.

The complete formula is this:
MPEG size = ((Total frames/MovieTimeInMinutes)/24) * MPEG sample file size

I have tried that formula but when I done it I done no of frames divide no of mins divide fps and got 62.a lot of numbers but in the project wizard it says its 9.19mb per min, I take it a sample file would be 1 minute? worked it out and tmpgenc is producing the right file size, part 1 of lotr is 101 mins so 9.19mb * 101 mins = 928.19mb so tmpgenc is predicting the right file size, so what I wanna know is how does the lbr template fit 180 mins onto 1 80min cd if part 1 is coming out at 928mb which is too big to fit on a 80min cd.
