i created 1 min avi file from an dowloaded farscape episode.

used KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS in both encoders
put the 1 min avi-file

result:
2.58 = 8 285 060 byte (7.9 MB)
2.59 = 10 523 072 byte (10.0 MB)

the 2.58 will give me 2 episodes on 1 cd-r 80
the 2.59 will give me 1 episode on 1 cd-r 80

does someone have an explination

as with my previous reply on another thread.. tmpgenc 2.59 has major issue with the filesize and bitrate control...huge.. and it doesnt correspond with the bitrate and filesize...

any bitrate you enter eg 700 or 900.. the program doesnt take that into account and just output out a file the same size or/and file is big

I just finished encoding a test strip with TMPEG 2.58 PLUS and 2.59 PLUS and the file sizes are identical. There is absolutely no quality difference. So maybe the problem is with the Standard version of TMPEG.

@Kwag,

Hey Kwag, would it be possible to set up a links page of sorts? Something where people can go to find out where to download what programs everyone is using. I've been making a list of links, but I'm sure it would help alot of people. Perhaps breaking it into order of use: DVD Decrypter, DVD2AVI, HeadAC3he, FitCD, AVISynth, Tmpgenc, bbmpeg etc.

Other thing, is it worth going back to 2.58 tmpgenc, instead of 2.59?

spyglass.

TmpgEnv 2.510 has been release. This fixes the problem of not being able to create Non Standard VCD's.

Hopefully this will help

@rhino
When the non-standard problem appear? I'm still using 2.57.

looks like it was some build in 2.59 - certainly from reading this forum that looks to be the case.

Changelog for TmpgEnc 2.510 states this as a big fix. Tested it over the weekend and the new release is working again.
