I want to encode the movie Tigerland (97 min, PAL, 16:9, 704x576) but it's difficult for me because the average bitrate of the movie is very high. So I'm not really sure if this movie can be fit on 1 CDR (80min).

Which template should I use? You have to remember that I have the pioneer dv-444 which in my opinion can't handle a resolution of 528x576 just the exact svcd resolution.

Which filters should I use. Do I need faerydust for this movie or just convolution3d? Or should I use blockbuster, too?

Try to use standard SVCD resolution, and adjust your min. bitrate to your needs... also you could try using xVCD resolution, that's 704x480(576)...
most players can handle that very well...
use file size prediction and see if youre satisfied with the quality for one CD... Yes, try faerydust and Convolution3d for this...

try changing it to 544x528, i have the dv-444 also and it works fine for me at 544x480 with a minimum bitrate of 650.

Hi Smoochie3!

Please tell which KVCD templates are working and which not for the Pioneer DV-444 with which resoluton.
I most the time encode PAL source material so it interests me very much with which output resolution the pioneer can work.

When I have to choose how many disks I want to make my movies, I ever make 2 samples: one sample for 1CD, and a second sample for 2CD.

So I burn them in a CDRW and see what is better. Sometimes I pick the 1cd version, but the sample with 2CD rocks so much ( near DVD quality ).

If it´s not a problem to you, put the movies in 2CD and be happy with the wonderful quality from your encodes. :P
