DVD2SVCD: Problem with BBMpeg configuration
 

I am using DVD2SVCD with the KVCD template and the modified setting from kwag. Everthing works perfect until the last step. For some reason, bbMPEG files are too big and then splits the video. The funny thing is that if I do the last step manually using the settings recommended by kwag again (what would we do without you!), it creates just one file of the perfect size to be burned onto on CD!

Any idea what is wrong. I'd love to be able to automate the whole process!

What"s the value of the "File Prediction factor" field ?

If you are using the new matrix and GOP, try a value of 0.98.

I'm using .95 as suggested somewhere in the forum. But the problem is not with tmpgenc which produces a small enough file. It is with bbmpeg -- and only when used from within dvd2svcd. If I use bbmpeg manually the file created is much smaller.

Ok, but use .97 or .98. because .95 was for the old GOP and matrix.
Check BBMpeg settings from within DVD2SVCD. Obviously the settings are wrong.

Will try .97 then. It's true that files are on the small side. As for bbMpeg config there is not much choice. I went to the ini file and you are right the numbers seem wrong. I changed them and will try again and let you know.

BTW I now have another problem. I had my first out of sync audio after converting a DIVX. I thought that it was not supposed to happen if we encode separately like dvd2svd does it.

Any hint?

Found the problem with bbmpeg. For some reason I had setup the dvd2svcd level to normal instead of advanced and it had screwed up the config.

Kwag, it tried .97 but now the file is too big. I'm not sure I am using the right matrix though. I loaded the ini files posted in this forum and changed the GOP as per your new recommendation. Would you mind refreshing the 2 ini files with the latest config?

BTW still no luck with the out of sync audio (it is a xvid with vbr mp3) and I think I tried all the recommendations on the various boards :(

Make sure you have this line after the line you open your AVI in your .avs script: EnsureVBRMP3Sync()

Kwag, thanks for the quick answer but that did not do it. I clicked on "edit as part of video encoding" and added the statement but the end result is still out of sync. The funny thing is that the mpeg file is not readable by WM, only by WinDVD. :grrr:
