I've been trying to get my Toshiba and Technosonic DVD players to support resolutions higher than 352x240. (both play all templates at 352x240)

I figured out that my Technosonic doesn't like "B" frames by single frame advancing and comparing the bad/good frame pattern to the GOP pattern. When I change the GOP to I and P frames only, it plays at 352,480, 5xx and 704 x 480.

My Toshiba, however, doesn't seem to like P or B frames. It will play at 704x480 (only) with I frames.

Does anyone have any idea what I could try? My Technosonic supports SVCD but my Toshiba doesn't. I have tried the header hack but no luck.

that sounds really weird... a player that can handle different resolutions only when the video stream contains I Frames only... crazy...

well you won't get as much of compression with it but... try the Standard DVD GOP : 1,5, 2, 1,15 for PAL and 1,5,2,1,18 for NTSC...

see if that fixes it...
