KVCD: Problem with kvcdx3 templates?

i want to put some mpeg2 video files into kvcd with the kvcd x3 template, to get more free space on my hdd. the problem i have is, that those files become to big. if i make the settings, so that the estimates file size is 798MB (which should fit on one 700MB cd-r) i get a file, that is 50MB bigger than it should be. i have no idea, why this happens.

Hi Kane,

Are you using file prediction  http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2102

i tried to, but to be honest , i do not understand very much of this. things like SansGrip "Sampler()" , .avs script. never heard of this :?
normaly, when tmpgenc says, the filesize will be 788MB it will make a 788MB sized file. why is it different with the kvcd templates?

You have some reading to do :). Check the file prediction section and SansGrip's section, and you'll learn all about it there. You can go here: http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm to get an idea of some of the methods we use here.

That would probably be for 2-pass mode. We use CQ encoding mode on all KVCD templates. This yields higher quality than 2-pass mode, but you must use this mode with file size prediction. If you don't, you'll never know what the final file size will be. It will be different with every different movie you encode.

Just download v2.510

Version : 2.510. 2003/1/17
Fixed: In the Environmental setting window, General tab, checking Enable multiplex with... and chosing audio file other than mp1, mp2 or mp3 format would raise an error when starting to encode.
Fixed: In the MPEG setting dialog window, GOP structure tab, when Detect Scene Change and Force picture type setting were both selected, closing the dialog window and re-open it would clear the Force picture type setting checkmark.
Fixed: In the MPEG setting dialog window, System tab, chosing MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard) would in fact select the MPEG-1 Video-CD setting.

It works for me. :D

ok, i think i know, what this avs script is good for, still no idea, how to make one , but is this only for encoding avi-files??
as i said, i want to encode mpeg2 files ( file extension of course .mpg)
can i also use those scripts for mpg files?
