Hi guys,
I was wondering:
Are there any major points you should consider when you convert from a DivX source instead of a DVD source? I see some tips in the sticky DivX conversion guide, like different quality setting, intrablock matrix modifications, are there special reasons to do this?

Thanks,
Wouter

I just can't agree with u Adder !!!
To get encode with above than watchable quality u have to start with best
quality DivX .
If u'll start with DivX with 1hr to 1 CD (700mb or more ) u'll get quality that probably be close to source and beleave me it's much more than just watchable !!!
(At least according my encodes ....)

Most DivX movies I tried have good quality. The quality I get after conversion varies a lot, even for low-motion movies. I get the feeling it is the resolution change that is causing problems.

If your divs\x is good quality then you can expect almost as good from kvcd within reason.

I recently converted Sweet home Alabama Xvid encode (110 mins) to one cd kvcd using x3 template at 528 x 480.
I find the less you resize the better the output will be.

You must allow for the fact that you are recompressing an already heavily compressed video file so some degredation is to be expected.

I also find in most cases I can reduce the max bitrate down from 1800 to 1300 -1500 with no quality loss but this is on a case by case basis.

As usual if u change resolution than better be to go up with .
So u'll get encode with same quality as source .
If u change to lower resolution than quality degradation is more visible and result is worse encode !

Well I'd like to resize as little as possible, but have little control over it: the movies I have are mostly something like 640x272 and the step towards 480 lines is quite big. Any tips on this?
Do you ever use tricks to get exactly a doubling of the number of lines? I guess that integer zoom factors will be best.
Why is the resizing using gripfit preferred over letting TMPGEnc do it?

Anybody has a list of which resolutions are possible?
I see 704x480 and 528x480 but if you have a source with different resolution, are there other possible values??
