Hi

What should i encode source aspect ratio as, 4:3 or 16:9. On the back of dvd it says 16:9 anamorphic (original aspect ratio 2.35:1).

I am not good knowing all this aspect stuff

Thanks.

If your encoding target is a K(VCD), you should encode 4:3. No matter if the movie is 4:3 or 16:9. VCDs are encoded 4:3. If you encode 16:9, you might run into aspect problems with some TVs.
Your source aspect should be set to "Center" if you are using SansGrip's "GripCrop" filters. If you are using an .avs script generated by FitCD, your input aspect should be set to "Full screen".

Hi kwag

Thanks for reply but i still got aspect problems

It seems that when i use gripfit with overscan the lower the value the more it chops of the sides of movie

Its like if i use overscan=1 which is 8 pixel it chops 8 pixel from side of movie and overscan=2 it chops 16 pixel from side of movie

I would like black borders down side of movie but i can't seem to get them anymore even if i use fitcd script i don't know wtf has happened??

I tried overscan=3 and thats just about shows sides but its still pretty chopeed

This is the script i am using:

LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\mpeg2dec.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\fluxsmooth.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\GripFit_preview.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\legalclip.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\sampler.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\Convolution3D.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\DustV5.dll")

Mpeg2Source("D:\divx or dvd encoding\51st_State\VIDEO_TS\51st state.d2v")
LegalClip()
GripCrop( width=544, height=576, overscan=2 )
GripSize()
Fluxsmooth()
Faerydust()
#SpaceDust()
Convolution3D(preset="movieHQ")
GripBorders()
LegalClip()

Sampler(length=24)
## MPEG size = ((Total frames/MovieTimeInMinutes)/24) * MPEG sample file size ##

Hope you or someone can help this is driving me potty

Hi Adder,

Your script is correct. Maybe it's a PAL problem with the filters
Have you contacted SansGrip about this

Those black borders on the side are ok... You won't see them on your TV, but if you have less pixel to encode, the quality will be better... TV Overscan also chops off pixels on the top and on the bottom of the video...
