i just ripped a dvd using dvd decryptor (untouched settings) and used dvd2avi with forced film setting. the problem im having is that the audio is sometimes choppy (video is smooth) when playing on my pioneer standalone dv-434. i know i asked this before but im still confused. the audio isnt choppy when playing it in WMP though.

in the faqs, why do i have to uncheck the box that says "create compliant CD?" in nero? is it because i used the wizard instead and the fact i didnt uncheck the Create complliant cd (which is why when playing it in my standalone sometimes theres choppy audio)?

thanks. any help is appreciated

Hi mugen,

I think your Pioneer needs a MIN bit rate of ~600Kbps to ~650Kbps. Try encoding a small sample with MIN=650Kbps.

here are my MPEG settings in TMPGenc: (this is the default from your template)

Stream type: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II
Sampling frequency: 44100 Hz
Channel mode: Dual Channel
Bitrate: 160 kbits/sec
De-emphasis flag: None

in the Bitrate drop-down box, i could only select up to 384 kbits/sec. theres no way i could get up to 650 kbps, unless im looking at the wrong settings!

Hi mugen,

I'm sorry for not being more specific
I meant Video MIN bit rate! Not Audio

thanks kwag, but it looks like the Bitrate box is grayed out. so bumping the video bitrate stops the audio from being choppy?

Stream type: MPEG-1 Video
Size: 352 x 240
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 525 line (NTSC)
Frame Rate: 23.976 fps [Setting button]
Rate control mode: Constant Quality (CQ) [Setting button]
Bitrate: --grayed out-- kbits/sec
VB buffer size: 40 KB
