Using Svcd2dvd to Convert 4 VCDs to DVD?

I think i've searched everywhere but could use some help
I seem to find lots of websites dealing with turning dvd's into svcd's but can't seem to find any information on going the other way.

Basically I have 4disk svcd that I would like to put onto either 1 or 2 dvd's. (At this point, I'll settle for anything ) Can anyone suggest a thread or website that deals with this? Most of the "conversion" programs won't even allow me to open up the mpegs' saying illegal file, or something to that extent.

Hi dreamhost,

You're going to have to re-encode. SVCD is 480x480 which is an invalid resolution for DVD. Your best bet is to copy the .MPG files from your SVCDs to your hard disk, and open them up with DVD2AVI. Then you can create a .d2v file from all your .MPG files. You can then process this with a KDVD Full D-1 template. You'll have to de-mux the audio and re-encode that too at 48Khz, because 44.1Khz in SVCDs is also invalid for DVD.

ok i did the first step dvd2avi and got a 1k d2v file
what I haven't been able to figure out is (is KDVD D-1 template a program that I use? or something that I run from the command promt, or....? and should I de-mux the audio before this step? and with what program?

I'm sorry to be asking so many questions
I have just tried sooooo hard to do this for so long that my brain needs b33r and I've stopped taking anything I think I know for granted

KDVD Full D-1 is a TMPEG template available here: www.kvcd.net/dvd-models
If you don't know how to use TMPEG, you might want to read this guide: http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm
That will give you a basic idea of some of the procedures and programs we use here.

ok I made the d2v file (it's only 1k) with dvd2avi and opened up tmpgenc
cancelled on the wizard.
I also copied the template into it's template folder.
when I click browse for the video source I get the following error
file "c:\svcd\moviename\disk1.d2v can not open, or unsupported
forgot I also added the dvd2avi.vpf file to the tmp directory where it's exe is

I noticed on the help page he said you MUST have the VFAPI and the DVD2AVI.VFP
I was able to do a search my comp for dvd2avi.vfp and find it and copy/paste it there, however his link for hte vfapi takes me to the download page for the tmpgenc program not for the VFAPI file... so that's not in the direcory yet

just for kicks I also tried the simple de-multiplex mode, and after about an hr, tmpgenc allows the video in, but when i click run after about 15 minutes it comes back and says illegal mpeg stream.

can you think of what I may be doing wrong?

on a side note, i tried dvd2avi but it does not create an audio file, only the 1k video file.

i'm still having no luck getting the mpegs into tmpgenc, and the no audio file being created by dvd2avi... if someone could please help.

Hi dreamhost,

Go gere: http://www.vcdgear.com and get that. Then extract each mpeg file from your SVCDs with VCDGear.
That will probably fix your streams, and then you can load each mpeg with DVD2AVI and produce a correct .d2v file.
