MPEG Mediator: Panasonic MiniDV MPEG4 conversion issues
Hi,
First my disclaimer: I am new to the latest digital advancements, so I am seeking some help. I apologize if this has been discussed before.... I am researching a Panasonic MiniDV PVDC352 digital camcorder(havent' bought it yet), and it can record streaming video in MPEG4 format. From the reading I have done, it seems that you cannot(or is not recommended) to convert MPEG4 to a KVCD format for viewing in a DVD player. So I am wondering if I should buy a camera that records in a different MPEG format instead, or if there is a way to use the digital footage from this camcorder and burn a KVCD....??? However, would I still be able to transfer my regular video from my miniDV tape to my PC, and then burn a KVCD disc? I do not know what file format digital camcorders normally save their videos on the miniDV tape. Any help is appreciated....thanks!!! |
Hi Rainier and welcome :D.
If the MPEG-4 quality produced is very high, then you'll be able to encode to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 (KVCDs, etc.) with very small loss of quality. I'm not sure about that camera. I would like to see an MPEG-4 sample from that camera, and make a small conversion, so we can make sure what kind of quality we would get 8) Are you aware of any sample clips made with that camera that can be downloaded :?: -kwag |
