KVCDx3

Note: If it's an extremely high action movie, you might want to use 2 CDs

Kawg, is We Were Soldiers an extremely high action Movie, Can you put this Movie on 1 cd with good quality? If you can How?

Because i tried using and the Kx3 mpeg 1, and i get some interlence probleme, some vertical lines appear at some moments, and the movie is not smooth motion, is kind of jerky.

i wonder if any filters will fix this, or the setting of the filters i'm alredy using!!

If your movie is a NTSC DVD, you have to set "Force FILM" on DVD2AVI.

hi VaioVcd,

Use source_anamorphic=true on GripFit only if FitCd tells you that your source is anamorphic.

You can try to put the following line right before the GripFit-line:

Letterbox(0,0,16,16)
GripFit()

This will blank out 16 pixel on the left and on the right side and GripFit/GripSize will stretch vour movie verticaly a bit.

Hey i used source_anarmophic=true on gripfit and i got the same results, then i use dest_anarmophic=true and it was perfectly streched verticaly.
This is how i did it
Gripcrop(dest_anarmphic=true, haight=xxx with=xxx, overscan=2)

I have one question, If a fitcd says the source dvd is anarmopnic, thoes this mean that the Original DVD will look anarmophic(streched verticaly) played on a DVD player. Because mines doesn't.

Setting dest_anarmophic=true you add no top/down borders to the frame. So it was TMPG that streched the frame, cause it probably was set to fullscreen arrange method.
But... did you like the results? Didn't you get the egg heads effect?

Nope... The DVD player plays anamorphics and not anamorphics DVDs with correct aspect ratio.

Thanks for the replay.
I used CENTER on TMPEGce!!
So What is the difference between dest and source_anarmphic?

What's the edgg effect? My test looked well with dest_anarmophic!!

And i didn't really understood the following

Well, I don't know if I can explain this correctly, so please, someone correct me if I'm wrong...
First: TMPG CENTER. If you choose "center", TMPG will fill your frame (if needed) with black borders in order to match your desired resolution.

Now, "source_anamorphic" means that your video is not 4:3 fullscreen, so you have to add black borders to your movie if you want to make an MPEG1 encode.

If you set dest_anmorphic=FALSE in GripFit, it will add the borders in the AVS script making it 4:3, so you can set FULLSCREEN in TMPGenc.

If you set dest_anmorphic=TRUE in GripFit, it will not add the borders, and you have to add it in TMPG with CENTER method. If don't use CENTER, the image will be vertically stretched and you'll get the "egg heads" effect.

The "egg heads" effect is when you vertically stretch the image of a widescreen movie so it fills the entire screen… so the heads of the actors will look like an egg.

I mean that anamorphics MPEG2 VOBs don't need vertical borders to be added. The DVD can play them correctly.

That explains ALOT!!!!

I guess i did got the Egg heads effect, but is not really notisable, becauese the video wasn't streched full screen, I got two small top and bottom black borders.

Is there a way to cut about one or two inches of the left and right cotners of a frame, and then streched the whole frame with out losing the aspect ratio, this way we get more view screen and thiner black borders

Is this what Letterbox Do?

I call this a custom "Pan & Scan" effect...

Open FitCD. Suppose your source is 720x480. Subtract 64 (32left+32right)from the width (720-64=656). Set the "film pixel" to 656x480. And set "crop" to "accurate" in order to maintain the aspect ratio.

This way you will cut some of the left and right sides, and as you are keeping the correct aspect ratio you will have less up and down borders.

Preview your AVS in your player... and if you want more (or less) height, just change the value you subtract from the width.

Is there a way to do this with GripFit, Because if there is this would be a way way of getting more visible screen on those wide screen movies, and you wont lose the aspect ration, and you wont get the egg head effect,

If you cant do this on Gripfit, I think it would be a good a idea to make a filter that can do this, or added to griptfit or something, I hope snapgrip or kwag read this.
