KVCD: Widescreen Aspect Squashed?
 

Last night I encoded a copy of a movie from DivX in widescreen using ACP. I used the KVCDx2 352x480 template. When I play it in my DVD player it appears to be vertically 'squashed', with the video being shorter than it should be. The horizontal is okay, though. Is there any way I can have it turn out properly? (It appears that TMPGEnc is trying to have the aspect ratio correct for when you're not going to be stretching the video with your DVD player...)

I need some more info,

1. what brand dvd player

2. is the video playing in the centre of the screen or to one side.

3. does it play correctly on your PC with powerdvd or windvd

You could also check and see if your DVD player is listed here

What I believe is happening is that TMPGEnc is not resizing the video properly. I believe there's some way that you should resize the video which I'm not doing...

And yes, my Panasonic RV31 plays all the samples correctly - it's my encoding that is messed.

I'm not sure if ACP uses Tmpg to resize by default, it might.

You could use the custom Avs method and paste your own script into ACP, this would use Avisynth for resizing.

You didnt say if it plays the same in powerdvd or windvd, if it plays correct with these apps then the prob would be your standalone if nt it is the encode.

Can you post the settings you used in ACP and I will try to help but dont hold your breath as I dont use ACP I prefer to do my encodes manually.

Yes, ACP uses TMPGEnc resizes. What do I need to add to the script to make it work properly? (Testing in PowerDVD seems to do the same thing...)

Use Fitcd to create an avs script and copy everything after the avisource line into the custom avs tab of acp ( make sure you leave the existing lines intact)

It would however be easier to use Fitcd to create an avs script and then use this as your source in tmpg.
