I just tried the new version 2.54 and it worked perfectly with KVCD template.

There are no differences in quality from 2.53 to 2.54.

Also encoding speed is the same.

File size created with both versions is also the same.

Cutting feature pretty nice, like cutting intro, ending ,etc.
Without using merge and cut and it save time for encoding.

I also tried "The analysing result of Multi-pass VBR can be stored onto HDD cache to boost encoding speed. This can be specified at "Environmental setting" which only for the plus version.

It really did increase the speed bit.

Just what I needed, to cut away all the commercials in my Stargate episodes, just before encoding.

This is getting good!

Have you tried cutting and merging with the new 2.54 version?

TMPGenc 2.54 is faster, but you need to check "Use Multi tread" and then "Enable Pipelilne", "Enable pipeline for emotion search", "Prefect video". For the last one use multiplies of 16, like 32, 64, 128, 256 etc but don't go higher the half memory go got. For 128MB Ram, set this to 64.
Mark those even if you have only 1 proccessor.

This trick increase the speed basicly on P4, Celeron and Duron. With athlon XP there is no significant increase...
As I said many times, Tsinumi dislike AMDs.....

When I'll find time, I'll post results with tmpgenc 2.54 plus (not 2.54a). Nowdays, I also testing reatime Xvid capture (amazing results), my CVD final templates to publish them, a CVD FAQ and .... Mandrake Linux 8.2 'cause there is the future... So, no much time for forums...

Hi

Hope someone can help me with a cutting prob with new encoder. I trust that I was doing it correctly.

The starting point is a 5min test file created using KVCD (PAL) template. The file plays fine in WinDVD and also, after being burned using VCDEasy, on my stand-alone DVD player (Grundig). My Grundig has never had a problem with KVCD template and the few video captures that I have done so far (frameserving from Vdub).

When I make a new file from a cut (about half way along), it again plays OK in WinDVD. However, when burned as VCD it will play the video OK on the Grundig but the sound comes out as very brief pops.

Is there something that needs to be done to the file after it is cut. This is the first cut that I have done.

Appreciate any advice.
Cheers

Have seen error in my ways. I should have put in a different "Type" on the MPEG tools screen. It seems to work OK for Mpeg1 VCD Non-standard.

Hi......does anyone know the best way to use the change volume settings under the Audio tab in new version of TMPGenc. Although I understand the concept of normalisation, I don't know how to use the 2 input variables.........Cheers
