Hi,

Doing some tests with kvcd matrice and kvcd settings on a 3 hour film.

Get a great 2 CD mpeg1 kvcd copy very nice.

With the same settings just change mpeg1 to mpeg2 the picture is positively horrid, looks like a lot of interlaced lines and block noise.

film is 29.970 fps
3hrs in total time
interlaced

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks in advance

Frum

Hi Frum,

That's the MPEG-1 advantage over MPEG-2 on low bit rates

Cheers Kwag,

Yes I Get that, but how have you made mpeg1 look like, dare I say it mpeg2......

When I used to encode Dead Standard VCD's using Tmpgenc they never looked like that, ok they were constant bitrate, but even so thats damned impressive.

top marks

could you point me in the right direction to do some reading about GOP structure and matrices? I would like to learn more.

Frum
