DVD2AVI: Delay 29ms
Hi Guys!!!
I created a d2v Project with DVD2AVI and I was wondering because of the name the AC3 File had. Blade2Project AC3 T02 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY 29ms.ac3 Does this "DELAY 29ms" mean that the Audio stream has a Delay of 29ms??? If yes,how can I solve this??? |
Hi Bchteam,
Yes it means the audio has that delay in reference to the video when it was extracted. If you encode your AC3 file with HeadAC3he, it will take into consideration the delay and encode your output .MP2 file automatically with the correction  -kwag |
That means that I don't have to adjust the Delay Value in HeadAc3e at all... :?:
|
i too have same issue.
but i master with 5.1 so i need the ac3 intact. is there any way to add the -ms time into the ac3 file ? regards, Dam0 |

DVD Authoring Programs, will take in account de Delay also. |
If you want to keep the AC3 as it is without reencoding you can also use AC3delayCorrector for authoring an individual DVD-R afterwards.
|
sorry now im really confused ??
do i need to change the ac3 file to be in sync ? im using dvdmaestro to master. Dam0 |
Logically yes!
As the muxing Audio delay/offset in the original VOB wont be included as header-value in the separated AC3. When demuxing the VOB you will have the m2v and the ac3 ... and the Delay information will be lost, thats why DVD2AVI puts a comment into the AC3s Filename after demuxing the ac3 and generating the d2v. If I do keep the AC3s of my originals, I do everytime use that DelayCorrection when doing the authoring with MaestroDVD afterwards |
great answer.
thanks :-) just to take it a step further.... if i re-encode the ac3 with bsweet gui, can i add\subtract the delay in that tool.? i think the delay option is for creating other formats ?? Dam0 |

This is an alternate GUI for besweet.exe that is aimed to ac3 files only. A lot easier to use. |
ok thanks for the tip on using ac3machine, ill try that next time.
i tried encoding with bsweet gui and it gave me a few db less gain, and everytime i tried to eliminate the problem it kept resulting in lower gain(volume) ac3s, this wouldnt normally be a problem, but with 3 x movies on same dvd, you do notice a huge diff in volume. anyhow, i used ac3corrector and it worked out great. and was way faster then bsweet was too. ac3corrector even read the delay setting from the ac3 filename. :-) very cool. well thanks for your help guys. The volume bug is a fault of ac3enc.dll which is used by BeSweet or Ac3Machine and lays on a codec based on ffmpeg and not DSPGuru. So to obtain the Volume do add -azid (-g max) or similair and thats a point you CANT do when using AC3 machine cause all other Gain Controll commands do fail! So Besweet is the right choice when at least keeping AC3 volumes. |
