TMPGEnc: VBV Buffer Setting, skipping errors

Hi all!

I always get little skipping errors after multiplexing... wouldn't it be a good idea to set VBV Buffer Setting to 0 (automatic) ? In bitrate viewer this gives me a buffer of 112 (actually 56 but BitrateViewer always halves the Buffer for some reason...) does TMPGEnc adjust the Buffer setting according to bitrate and resolution?

Hi Jellygoose,

A VBV value of 0 (automatic) causes problems on many DVD players.
It's better to leave it set to the default values.

Ok... so the default value is 40 right? It used to be 48 as I remember... why was that changed?

however kwag, I've found out that this has to be some kind of multiplexing issue... When I mux the files as MPEG-1 VBR in BBMPEG, and burn it the skips are gone... In my Standalone as well as using PowerDVD... Are there any DLLs needed for multiplexing? Could it be my RAM is not enough (256mb DDR) or some setting in BBMPEG?
I'd use MPEG-1 VBR as multiplex mode, but I can't burn a 800 mb file to one CD-R using that mode. It's shown as 900 mb...
