KVCD: Can't quite fit movies on one disc?

Hi Kwag,
I have encoded (the whole movie) "Cast Away" and "U571". The final mpeg files are both way larger than 800MB, I used your standard template (352x240; CQ=74). Cast Away=1GB; U571=1.2GB! Do I have to reduce the CQ value in order to fit into a single CD-R, also, the largest CD-R I can get is 730MB (but it says it is 80 minutes). Any idea?? Thanks in advance.

Are these films "Full Screen"? Maybe that's why they don't fit.
What's your source?

Hi Kwag,
Cast Away is a full-screen version (134 minutes long), U571 is 16:9 version (less than 140 minutes). The source is ripped from DVD by Smartripper--DVD2AVI--Vdub+VobSub--TMpeg.

Also, when you say one 80-min CD-R, are you talking about 800MB? The largest CD-R available in here is 730MB but it says 80-min (but nero shows that it is only 700MB). Now, question time..

(1)---If the template (352x240, CQ=74) is designed to fit 120 minutes of movie into a 800MB CD-R, then I would go for your new KVCDx2 template. If my assumption is correct, the new KVCDx2 template would generate a 1.6GB final mpeg movie which I have to cut in half to fit in 2 CD-Rs. What setting(s) need to be changed in order to have 700MB per disc (of course with highest possible resolution)??

(2)---For some Chinese movies which I don't need high res. and want to fit into ONE CD-R, what settings and CQ values (both for 352x240 and 704x480) need to be changed to achieve that goal!

(3)---It may be out of the current topic; I'm using windows 2000 Pro, PowerDVD, Liteon DVD drive (16x). The DVD drive is currently set as region 1, it has 3 more times of changing region left. I am NOT using DVD drive to PLAY movie on my PC but just to rip DVD movies by using Smartripper. I just tried to rip a region 3 DVD movie but Smartripper gave me an error message which I don't remember exactly. Is Smartripper a region-dependant program, if not, HOW can I make it "region-free"? Thanks a lot!
