KVCD: 23.976fps plays choppy/jerky?

Hi all

The movie is NTSC, and 29.97fps, frame type 'progressive'. When i save project in DVD2AVI all is well. When i use 'Telecide', and 'Decimate' in my avs script fps changes to 23.976, but my dvd player plays this jerky with pauses. I use VBV buffer of 48 which my PAL conversions play perfect on my dvd player.

Can someone give me any suggestions :?

Thanks. :)

Hi Adder,

If you load your VOBs in DVD2AVI and press F5, and you let it run for about a minute, does it show "NTSC" on the statistics window or does it show FILM and some % numbers :?:

Hi Adder,

Got it :D
Change the frame rate on your template to 29.97fps and remove telecide and decimate from your script. There's nothing you can do about it :(
You'll still get good quality, but not as good as if the source was 24fps FILM, and your file size will also be larger.
BTW, nice and clean desktop. You should see mine 8O

Edit: Please go here and follow the instructions and double check your source: http://www.inmatrix.com/articles/ivtc.shtml

Hi kwag :D

Thanks for the compliment on my desktop i always like a good looking clean desktop  although i am thinking of replacing that wallpaper as i don't really like it :P

So basically i go into DVD2AVI and select 'force film' save the project, remove 'telecide' and 'decimate' from my script, load the script in tmpgenc and change fps from 23.976 to 29.97 and then encode as usual.

Thanks again kwag

My solution to your problem

Hello!

I also had encountered this type of problem when I encoded a making-of feature which is 29.97fps. What I did was to first make a DVD2AVi project in its original form (No FORCE FILM). Then in TMPEGEnc I made the final video into 23.976, went to the filters, checked the "deinterlace" option and chose "double." I also checked the "inverse telecine" option with "flicker prioritize" as its value.

A little reminder: before you change your final movie fps' to 23.976, go to the filters tab and check what is needed then you can already change the fps.

I hope this will solve your problem.

Hi raphaelf

Thanks for the reply :)

Where do i get the filters 'deinterlace' and 'inverse telecine' :?

Also can you please explain what you mean by this statement :?
