Hello, obviously this is my first post... But I wanted to know if anyone aside from me has gotten success from trying this...

I thought that since KVCD has such a good quantization matrix, what if it were implemented into Xvid? (Koepi's Unstable) I used Motion Search 5, VHQ4, 2pass, H.263, Default quantizer settings, with the KVCD "Notch" matrix...

The results were VERY nice, the quality was just as good as the default matrix and the file size is cut 5MB. (35MB down to 30MB) The overflow wasn't as bad either, with only a megabyte! Sorry as I can't post a comparison for the two encodes, but I think it worked pretty well...

Compared to what I've been reading here, I'm a newb! So any small hints (No AVISynth Scripts please) on further Xvid tweaking would be nice, and possibly some ways to speed up the encode.

BTW: I am encoding an Anime intro, to E's Otherwise. (For those curious, I am the encoder for Anime-Blitz) I'm always trying to find improvements to the video and the size, so all help is appreciated!

Well that might be due to the fact that this is no "Xvid Encoding" Site at all! I never did any Xvid Encodes, and don't know a whole lot about Xvid. I don't know how to implement the KVCD Notch Matrix into an Xvid encode, and I'm certainly not sure about the results... I'd say just try it out and see for yourself!

The results as I've said are only a bit below the quality of the standard matrix, in fact you have to really look to see it!

To enter the KVCD Notch Matrix simply use the file link below and open it in Xvid's Matrix Editor.

http://www.angelfire.com/gundam/gwin...DXVIDNOTCH.zip

IT SHOULD work in Xvid... At least it has as far as I've seen, if it doesn't, you'll have to manually enter every single number of the matrix into Xvid Quantizer... It's annoying though...
