mpeg splitting with bbmpeg

hey guys, i was just wandering if there was an easy way to use bbmpeg to cut my mpegs with a 2 second overlap. I used to use DVD2SVCD with CCE but it takes tooooooo long

i have been able to cut mpegs with bbmpeg, but not with an overlap.
any help would be great :D

thanks

Lets say you have a 10min movie.
Before you mux video+audio, you set the first part to mux from 0 sec to 300 sec.
The second part you set to go from 298 sec (2sec overlap) till the end.

Btw, I would search for the end of a scene to cut the movie. Don't cut it in the middle of the action...

That's a big problem with using file prediction for 2 CD's: sometimes if you cut after a scene, it won't fit in the 1st cd, if you cut before it it won't fit in the 2nd CD; you have to cut in the middle of the scene, or reencode (the movie or the audio).

You can avoid it by making two separate projects so each project is a one CD encode. Like project 1 chapters 1-10, project chapters 11-20. I think the best place to do the splitting would be in SmartRipper if you're using movie mode, or in DVD2AVI. After these early stages you may run in synch problems when splitting the audio.

I agree 100%

But I always do the cut with DVD2AVI and never had synch problems.
Btw, I cut with 2 secs over the point I want. That's for a fade-out effect.

Are you cutting VOB's only or have you tried cutting mpeg2 files?

I don't have problems cutting the video with DVD2AVI but when I attempt to process the .mpa after cutting, Headach3 gives me a corrupt last frame error and ceases processing.

Should I cut and extract the audio separately before I save the project?

Thanks

Well, I'm cutting VOBs only.
Never tried to cut an mpeg2...
but I did try to join 2 mpeg2, and every thing was ok.

AviSynth has a FadeOut filter. It's a little limited but you can use Dissolve + Blackness filters to create a fadeout effect the way you want. They are easy to use, and you can find all about these filters in the AviSynth docs.
