I posted a question like this before and the only answer was that mpeg1 is superior at lower bitrates. At what bitrate do I have to start using mpeg2?

For example: I did LOTR on 3 cd's, average bitrate around 1600kbs in mpeg 1. Is this low bitrate or "food" for mpeg2?

To Kwag: I did "Last of the Mohicans" (105min) with kvcdx3mpeg1 on 1 cd. Outstanding quality! Thanx for your replies and templates!

Hi NoDRoGG,

MPEG-1 shines below ~2.5Mbps. Above that, MPEG-2 scales better, and is better than MPEG-1.
So below ~2.5Mbps, go for MPEG-1
