I've seen this question asked quite a lot, but haven't ever seen a way to get rid of it. Even when encoding at a high CQ (around 80) using GoldDust() and Convolution3D(preset="movieLQ") i still seem to get these flashing blocks on dark surfaces, they're very irritating ...

They are in the source (which just happens to be DivX ) but not nearly as noticeable. Is there anything i can do to get rid of them??

Short answer: no
If they are in the source, they will be in the destination. Remember: Trash in, trash out

Oh...ok. It's just that the source isn't exactly trash, its very good apart from those blocks so I thought maybe there was a way to remove them. I suppose can put up with them.

I was refering to the blocks, not your movie
I should have said: Blocks in, blocks out

I have resident evil in divx format! Whan I look at it in mplayer2 it looks perfect no macroblock.
When I make the avs and look at preview in tmpgenc all the change between colors on large surface ( a dress , a wall ) are full of block.
If I make a part of the clip is like the preview!
Any suggestion?
Is something wrang whit the avs or divx configuration ?
