avi to vcd, or should i use svcd??
hey there, new to the forum here, ive researched making avi into vcd and thought i had done well until i came here, wow, you have it down !!!! I was wondering if someone had the time to help a little. I have downloaded 15 avi files that are 30 min. in length each, a seiries if ya git my drift, I am trying to put them on vcd's with the absolute best quality for ntsc viewing. I dont care about encoding time necessarily, if its 26 days then maybe, haha. I love the concept of maximizing templates and making them into excellent vcds. Please respond

Hi wormbrner and welcome,
Check black prince guide. Here's the link: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2331 -kwag |
but in mpeg format, not mpeg2

I'd use mpeg-1 if your player can support it at 528x480 (or try 544x480 if that doesn't work) for NTSC (29.97 fps). As kwag has pointed out to me in the past, at the lower average bitrates we tend to use it will look better. You could even encode to the higher 704x480 resolution for better quality but higher file size.
On the other hand if you don't mind only having 30 minutes on each CD, mpeg-2 at high bitrates might look better. Best thing to do is experiment, burn tests on CD-RW, and start to have fun... :D |
