There's no use for that bombero. You can't get better quality that the original source

I remember the saying "crap in, crap out". I know they wont get better, I just want to get them on 1 cd in mpg2 format so they will play on the generic DVD player we have at the fire station where I work (it will ONLY play SVCD) kvcdx3 work the best on it so thats what im trying for.

Then I would suggest SKVCD
You can open the MPEGs directly with Vdub ( The version that reads MPEG-2 files ), and frameserve directly to TMPEG and re-encode with SKVCD template.
Have you tried 352x240 MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 on that player with the SVCD header trick :?: You might be able to play MPEG-1s burned as SVCD

thanx again for the reply Kwag, yes i have tried the header trick, it dont work. i tried using vdub, the version i have is 1.4.8 not really sure what to do with it though, if i try to save as an AVI it says it will be 0ver 2 gigz.

i copied the dat files with ISO Buster, then merged them with tmpegenc and then demuxed the full movie, now i have a mv1 and a mp2 file. what i need help with is the steps to using these files with fitcd so i can get a script going and use the file prediction, so i can get these movies on 1 cd.

You should be able to open the .m1v directly with TMPEG, load your template, and encode!.
Then after you're done encoding, just mux your newly created .m1v with the .mp2 you demuxed before.
If you want to use prediction, you could try to open your .m1v in a .avs script with "DirectShowSource()"

You normally have a line in your .avs script that opens your source like this:
Mpeg2Source("D:\MyMovie.d2v")
So you change the line to read: DirectShowSource("D:\MyMovie.m1v") and that will process your MPEG-1 file :)

yeah, after some searching i found out how to use it, but when i did, it just hangs there forever, it wont start to do anything, no errors, just hanging there not working or responding.

Ok, then how about if you open your .m1v with Vdub, and frameserve to TMPEG

ok, i can open the m1v in vdub, i have no clue how to frameserve to tmpegenc, i clicked on frameserver, but again it just sat there not doing anything. its probably not hard , i just dont have the know how to do it yet, can you walk me thru?

Hello...about a year later, maybe there are some easier ways to convert...
I was curious about the same thing?? well sort of, I just want to have all my vcd's on 1 disc as opposed to 2, save space and what not...is there an easy way?

I tried to do the mpeg tools in tmpg and made a file of close to 1g, then i input that in tmpg for an mpg to mpg conversion using the kvcd template, not sure which template, but it created a file about 300-400m, but no audio.

Do you happen to have an idiot's guide  on this subject??

Thanks in advance!!!

There a a new method you're right.
Do a seach on my posts with "directshowsource AND killaudio" on the forum and you'll find the related threads.
