Problem with the sound
 

Hi:
I tryed all of the templates (~5min each) and all of them have the problem with the sound. I did add "System(Video-Audio)" at 128 kbps to get a sound.

The source is a downloaded AVI file (I know you don't like them, because of the quality, but I'm not expecting the near-DVD quality eather, just a normal sound would be fine).

I have Pioneer DV-C503, which played almost ALL of your older templates just great. Also I have SONY SLV D-100 DVD/VHS combo, which has much more problems with your templates then just sound.

the audio is probably ac3.

you need the ac3 codec for that.

I remember installing it.

Extract the Audio using VirtualDub, encode it with Headache as MP2 file, and mux the streams with BBMPEG... :wink:

Well, I ussually Extract VirtualDub, but not sure how to use the other 2.
Is it really nesesssary, is there any better way?
It seems way to complicated to use theese templates now.
There got to be an easier way, then to use a half a dozen different programs?! It might as well be better to just go back to the regular formats.

Hi qute11,

You'll get far far better audio quality if you encode with HeadAC3he, than if you encode with TMPEG's internal audio encoder. That's why most of us use that method.

yeah, these are a couple of programs, but it is worth the effort, you get a great quality and you get used to it very quickly.
In the end these are just a few clicks more, your pc has to do the whole work, not you :wink:

Well, the great quality is not THAT important when converting DIVX or other AVIs, especially for just a sound.
Is there a way to change something in TMPGenc to get normal sound?
I think last year templates were OK.
In any case, can you give me a link to the tutorial about those 2 programs?

Just load any of the new templates and change the settings from ES(Video Only) to System(Video+Audio) and save the template.

Thats exactly what I did, see original post at the top.
Thats how I got the crackling sound.
I don't remember this problem with your old templates, before you started to use the other 2 programs for the sound.

If you're getting a cracking sound it's probably because of the low audio quality in TMPGEnc...you could try incresing the bitrate to 160kbps...

Crackling can also be caused by the 'joint stereo' setting. Choosing stereo or dual channel might fix it.
