I am attempting my "first step" to load one of these KVCD Templates into my TEMPEG utility. Problem is, the templates have mcf.txt extensions.I could use some suggetions on converting these to regular mcf files so TEMPEG could load them up normally. thanks.

Welcome to the party ezysk ,

The kvcd templates don't have mcf.txt extensions, they're .mcf files....when you "right-clicked" and selected "save-target-as" to download the templates, you should have specified in the correct dropdown box to save them as "all file types" (or something like that), but you must have accidentally saved them as .txt files instead.

I think you should be able to simply rename it to "whatever-template.mcf" instead of "whatever-template.mcf.txt", and it should work. If not, just re-download the templates, but be careful to save them as their default filetype.

Regards,
-d&c

...ok, thanks. I'm curious to know what would be a compatible ripping utility for TMPGEnc Plus. The one I'm using now,TMPG has trouble finding and reading the audio source. I got Easy VCD,but I'm not sure if it will specify and direct TMPG...to the new KVCD template. thanks again

Hi ezysk,

Start by discarding Easy VCD, and read this guide http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm

Does anyone know where to get these required DLL files for the Headache 3 program? The link posted (http://mitglied.lycos.de/darkav/svcdguide/svcd.html) is dead, perhaps there's an alternate or file mirrors, anyways this is what's needed for the pentium 4:
MPAlib DLL X 1.00 (1.50) 20.04.2002 0.04 MB Required for MP3 decoding. ICL SSE2 compile
SSRC DLL X 1.01 (1.2 28.03.2002 0.05 MB Required for downsampling (my mod SMP version). ICL SSE2 SMP compile
Vorbis DLL X 1.20 (1.74) 20.07.2002 0.15 MB Required for Vorbis encoding (my mod version). ICL6 SSE2 compile
Lame DLL 1.28 (3.93) 20.04.2002 0.10 MB Required for MP3 encoding. ICL SSE2 compile
MP2enc DLL X 1.15 (1.13) 20.04.2002 0.04 MB Required for MP2 encoding (my mod version). ICL SSE2 compile

Anybody had anyluck with this so called Headache3 program ???
I followed the instructions for extracting the dll rar files into the directory...but no luck ...all the dll's failed to load as well as the interfaces.
Any alternatives to this program, or am I stuck with it ?

Hi ezysk,

Did you use WinRAR Version 3.x
You can't use versions 2.x of WinRAR to decompress those RAR files

Here's my current situation: I extracted the required DLL files using Winrar 3.11 version. What happened next was kind of funny. The azid.dll,lame_enc.dll,and libmmd.dll....all appeared with the normal "gear icon" dll....and they are the only dll files that were able to load successfully in HeadAC3he. The rest of the DLLS from MPAlib DLL to MP2enc DLL ...appeared as text files like vorbis appearing as vobis, dll.c or vorbis.dll.h and lame.dll...appearing as lame.h. So the rest of the DLLS failed to load, and got error messages like: "Could not get Vorbis or MP2en interfaces etc. Also during extraction I got an option if I wanted to "overwrite" some files ones like: resource.h,and version.r. Really didn't know what to do with that. I know I downloaded the correct P4 files for my cpu from this site: http://mitglied.lycos.de/darkav/svcdguide/svcd.html, but it was funny, that I did not see if it was XP compatible. Anybody wants to add anything to this.....please by all means. I could use all the help I can get. thanks.

Start by discarding the ripping part of the guide. Use the ifo-mode instead of. Ripping just the vobs you might get some unvanted stuff(trailers, music videos...) which doesn't belong to the movie.

...what do I use to encode the audio ?
When TMPGenc browses for an audio source or file,it needs something that it can read.

Just encode Video only in TMPGEnc. The output file will have a .m1v extension. This is the video part of an Mpeg1 file. You multiplex it with the mp2 file, made by headache.

I don't suppose there would be another mutiplexer other than Headache3 that would work with KVCD? It would be a cryin shame if there weren't. This could have been a knockout program. Any time you have to "assemble" a program like Headache with DLLS and the like, you are bound to have a train wreck. There are alot more like me,that cant have a solution for this. Perhaps it may eventually become a normal "exe" program, but for now, DIVX or WMV may be the viable alternative.
