KDVD: Encoding for the Best Audio and Picture?

Right I know nothing about encoding for the best audio ect and picture and I don't want to. I do know how to encode the movie with KDVD and I have done so....

What i want to know in the simplest of terms is how i make my DVD from the movie files i have encoded with KDVD....

I want to know what programs to use and what to do with them....i don't want to know about file size prediction etc....

Can i make the dvd using magix or ulead moviemaker straight from the mpeg2 files i have encoded so they all are on one DVD...

Please keep it simple

Hi itoney,

Use IfoEdit and VobEdit to convert your encoded mpeg file to the complete DVD file structure (VOBs, BUPs, etc.).

That is the simple answer. There's no simpler way. Unless I tell you how to do it step by step, and I would be actually doing the same thing as if you read the guides

well i read on one of your other posts that someone said that you don't have to do all that and just use a tool to author the movies.

Also which user guide do i look at there are loads

Then try DVD MovieFactory or DVDit. Both work correctly with mpegs created with KDVD.

ok but still does not answer the question about will more than one movie encoded with the KDVD template fit and author on one DVD using movie factory

Of course you'll fit more than one movie , but then you must use file prediction while encoding so that you can target the size for each movie. Say 1/3 of the total space of a DVD for three ~2 hour movies on one DVD, etc.

well when i encode with a KVCD template i never use a file prediction.....i estimate it as i know that if the end encoded movie is under 800mb it will fit on an 80 min cd

so is there an average filesize for the KDVD mpeg2 file to get 3 movies on one dvd without having to use a predictor

Then you'll never be able to obtain the maximum quality, as you are using a "hit and miss" approach. Some movies will encode less than 800MB, and some will go overboard, and then you won't be able to fit it on one CD. That's the whole purpose on file prediction.

No, there is not. Same principle as KVCD templates. It depends on the source material. You might encode a movie, and wind up with 1.5GB. That's fine. But then you encode another one, and it might be 3GB, and that's the end of fitting even 2 movies on one DVD.

Yes. Make sure you set the audio to "Dolby Digital" on your authoring program, because if you leave the default, the audio will be re-encoded as PCM. That will create a HUGE file. If your encoded mpeg files are DVD compliant, if you did them with KDVD templates or other DVD compliant templates, you shouldn't have any problems importing those mpegs into your authoring program.

Edit: MovieMaker , I'm not sure if that will make a DVD. Never tried it.

the answer is no as when i put the first movie file in although the file size is just over 1gig moviemaker says it is nearly 4 gig

Then you will need DVDit, MyDVD, or DVD MovieFactory.
