I selelcted forced film in dvd2avi and also tried deinterlacing without using forced film. Should I try using IVTC now to get my movie to work and not jump during playback or should I just encode at 29.97fps?

I had a similar problem. I was encoding a AVI file captured at 29.97fps. Using KVCD template, it encoded to 23fps, which induced the "jumping" effect. I, then, modified the KVCD template to 29fps and the resulting video was perfect, with no "jumping" at all.

Try it and do post if you could resolve the issue.
