KVCD: possible to use 240x480 resolution?

Was just looking at some of the TMPGEnc SVCD templates and it looks like this is a non standard SVCD res like 352x576...has anyone ever tried this resolution? I've never heard of it before... :? ...half SVCD res... third D1.
Was just wondering if it's any good. Is it a standard resolution for anything?

It's not a standard resolution, and will probably look correct only in a handfull of standalone players 8)
It will probably look correct on height, but not on width.
Try it! Encode a small sample and burn it to CD-RW. I know I did a long time ago, when I was trying the whole resolution spectrum from 240x176 all the way up to 800x600 8O, and it didn't display the correct aspect on my player.

Didn't play correctly in PowerDVD, and didn't look great anyway, so I didnt even bother to burn it. I suppose I might have done if it wouldn't have been a waste of a CD-R...have to get round to buying a CD-RW some time.

That just reminded me that I have to update the Pocket PC templates with the new "Notch" matrix. Those templates still use the old (way old) parameters :? I wonder if there are people really using those templates. Last time I used it, was to encode the complete "The Matrix" movie, and it went complete with audio at 64Kbps in a file size of 128MB and really looked excelent on a Pocket PC screen

352x480 plays just fine here.
I thought that 352x576 would be just the equivalent PAL resolution.

It was a typo. I was refering to 240x480(576) :D

Hehe....apparently 704x288 is a legal resolution for DVD... 8O Have you tried this one? Is it any good? Seems to me like its just half D1 the other way round.... :?
