KVCD: sound sync - Is this the only way?
 

Is this the only way to correct the sound if it's out of sync :?: :arrow:

1. This works for both VCD's and SVCD's. The basic principle is to De-multiplex the MPG file and Re-multiplex with MPEG2VCR applying an audio offset.

2. Run TMPGEnc, click on File and select MPEG Tools. Select Simple De-multiplex tab and for Input, browse to your problem MPG. Video and Audio output names will be automatically generated. The Audio being *.MP2 and video being *.M1V or *.M2V. Click Run and wait until its finished. Exit TMPGEnc.

3. Run MPEG2VCR and under Tools, select MPEG System Multiplexor. Browse for the Video *.M1V/*.M2V file after changing Files Type to All(*.*). Do the same for the Audio *.MP2 file. Now select MPEG-1 System Stream VCD or MPEG-2 Program Stream SVCD depending if its a VCD or SVCD that your trying to fix. Enter an output file name and click on AV-Sync button. Here you have to be able to estimate the amount of time the A/V sync is out. Look for people speaking, Gun fire, door slamming, etc where it is easier to match the sound to the event. If the Audio comes before the Video, then move the slider in +'ve direction to the amount you have estimated. Click on Done, then click Save. In a short time you will have a new MPG file, do NOT shut down MPEG2VCR. Now play the movie, preferably with WinDVD, to check if the sync is correct. If a small adjustment needs to be done (I never get it right first time!) then jump back to MPEG2VCR and adjust the slider a bit more in the direction that's needed. Hit Save again and when done, re-check the file. Repeat until it is fixed.

4. Sometimes just a simple De-multiplex with TMPGEnc and a Multiplex with MPEG2VCR with NO audio offset applied can fix A/V sync problems. This is particularly true if using the FlaskMPEG/Panasonic Plug-in method for creating the MPG.

5. If you now have the A/V sync correct at the start of the movie but is out near the end, then move onto the next solution.

I found it on cdr base but if you wanna sync a WPV file with a Mp2 file you'll get a 100mb bigger file 8O Lets say I have a MPV file on about 700mb and a Mp2 file on 100mb. If I sync this movie with MPEG2VCR I'll get an output on 900mb 8O That's 100mb to BIG :!:

So is there another way to sync :?: And if there is, were can I found a guide :?: I did'nt know witch forum I should post in, so I took this :oops:

You could try adding an audio offset with Goldwave...try this guide. :wink:

Thank you PyRoMaNiA :) but I have one question :!: Can I convert the synced wav. file to Mp2 with headac3he instead of TMPGEnc, I mean, I wanna use headac3he-0.23a instead og this part of the guide :arrow:

5. Open TMPGEnc once again and press Ctrl+N and press OK. Under Audio Source, click browse and open the .wav you just made in GoldWave. Now select where you want the output .mp2 to be and then click Start!

Yes you can use HeadAC3he instead. :) Its better if you do because of the poorer quality of TMPGEnc.

Question.. I thought HeadAC3 was a stand-alone audio app, and can't be
used like a frameserver to TMPG, as TooLame can !!

Does HeadAC3 have a .DLL like TooLame does ??

Or, are you saying that (reading between the lines he he) you have to first
encode your vide to a .M2V and THEN, mux the Vid and Aud (but after
you have converted your .WAV to an .MP2 in HeadAC3) ?? ?? ??

I dont know about the Dll. question but I know you have to convert your "out of synced" Mp2 to first wav. (With GoldWave) and then back to Mp2 with HeadAC3 :) That's it :!:

No, HeadAC3he doesn't have any DLL like toolame, I just meant encode audio with HeadAC3he, then mux with video afterwards. :)

I am very happy i have yet to have 1 dvd PAL conversion with audio out of sync :P

I tried dvd NTSC rips but couldn't figure out how to stop jerkiness in playback after trying many times so i gave up on them :x

My whole procedure is as follows:

1. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the movie to hard drive.
2. Open DVD2AVI and save project.
3. Open Headac3he and create MP2 audio file (i always generally start with 128kbit and higher if i can)
4. Open Tmpgenc and use sampler in script to do file prediction.
5. Once i have my targeted file size i encode full movie in tmpgenc.
6. I then mux the audio and video together using BBmpeg.
7. Then i transfer the muxed file/s to my cd writing machine (windows 2000).
8. I then burn using Nero burning rom.

And i get perfect playback with PAL conversions on my dvd player 8)

moviestacker to create the script
ToK to do the Work, just loading the script and the external audio and ToK makes ALL settings in tmpgenc that are neccessary! never tried it? 8O

OMG Adder I'd say the same as Kane, you never tried it 8O It's a GREAT program, just some bugs. It automaticly finds the CQ, in a few tries :D Then you won't need to do the manual prediction. And it's very easy to handle, even for me :P
