MovieStacker 2.00 BETA3 released

MovieStacker 2.00 BETA is out :!:

I was holding back the release of the new MovieStacker because I wanted to add the visual crop/preview/compare features. These features are the main reason to the 2.0 jump. But many users are asking for the new version NOW! Just because of the new filters. So I decided to release a BETA version without the new crop/preview/compare features but with all the new supported filters.

Enough talk... here is the "relelease_notes.txt" file:

Code:

[MovieStacker 2.0.0 BETA] - 24/Apr/2003
- Layout change.
- Added support for the folowing filters:
  * MergeLuma
  * MergeChroma
  * DctFilter
  * Tweak
  * VobSub (extract and configure)
  * UnFilter
  * GreedyHMA
  * STMedianFilter
  * Fade In/Out
- Added new preset files with the latest filters used in KVCD.net
  (Preset files were done by Kwag himself... Thanks a lot Kwag!)
- Now you can hide parameters names for the folowing filters:
  * TemporalSmoother
  * TemporalCleaner
  * FluxSmooth
  * NoMoSmooth
  * Unfilter
- Info box in the script section now shows the correct number of frames
  and the correct length of the movie. Placing the mouse over the length
  shows the total time in minutes and in seconds.
- Fixed the bug that some infos was not being updated when
  you load a new source for the first time.
- Added script/preset overwrite confirmation.
- Added AviSynth version detection.
- Changed "dust" filters order to match increase filtering strength.
- Fixed the "sampler" bug.
- Some other minor bugs fixed.
- Some optimization made.
- Added option dialog.
- Added about dialog.
- Added an installer.

[MovieStacker 1.1.1] - 27/Feb/2003
- Added support for 4 MPEG decoders:
  * MPEG2Dec.....(by dividee)
  * MPEG2Dec2....(by Tom Barry)
  * MPEG2Dec3....(by Marc FD)
  * MpegDecoder..(by Nic)
- Changed the order of NoMoSmooth filter.
  It now comes before TemporalCleaner and Convolution3D.
- Now you can hide the parameters names of NoMoSmooth.
  Hey SansGrip, just too long names ;)
- Some minor bugs fixed.

[MovieStacker 1.1.0] - 25/Feb/2003
- Fixed Telecide/Decimate bug that wasn't loading the plugin.
- Fixed syntax error in Weave and BlockBuster filters.
- Fixed a stupid bug in the script editor that didn't save manual changes.
- Added support for NoMoSmooth filter.
- Added a "full screen" script editor.
- You can configure color background and font settings for the full screen editor.
- Changed the "link" section.
- Changed some icons (buttoms and program). Not finished.

[MovieStacker 1.0.0] - 22/Feb/2003
- Many layout changes.
- It now fits at 800x600. (Some users will like that a lot ;)
- Splitted the layout in "tabs".
- Added a little more information about the audio streams
  and the space left for "elementary video stream".
- Optimized the AVS generation routine.
- Added specific and individual settings for ALL the filters.
- You can choose to see or not the default parameters of the filters.
  ("Hide Default Parameters" checkbox)
- The folowing filters are now supported:
  * GripFit (crop/resize/addborders)
  * SeparateFields & Weave
  * FieldDeinterlace
  * TomMosComp
  * Telecide
  * Decimate
  * TemporalSmoother
  * TemporalCleaner
  * Convolution3D
  * FaeryDust
  * SpaceDust
  * PixieDust
  * GoldDust
  * FluxSmooth
  * BlockBuster Noise
  * BlockBuster Sharp
  * LegalClip
  * Sampler (for prediction)
- Automatically sets GripFit destination and source anamorphic or not.
- All the filters used are now packed with the program.
- Added the "preset" system.
  Now you can save and load any filter combination and settings.
- The "preset" also saves the destination resolution and crop method.
- Added some already made presets.
  * KVCD_ULBR
  * KVCD_LBR
  * KVCD_352x240_PLUS
  * KVCD_352x480_PLUS
  * KVCDx3_528x480
  * KVCD_704x480_PLUS
  (note: All presets were made by kwag. Thanks for the help!)
- "TV Overscan" is now divided in two methods: Resize and Overlap
- Added the "settings" tab. For now it just lets you choose the
  filter directory and the preset directory.
- Added the "links" tab. Just some links to the programs and filters
  used in this program.

[Initial FitCD Modification Release] v0.2a - 30/Dec/2002
- Added the new prediction script/formula.
- Added support for the folowing filters:
  * FluxSmooth
  * BlockBuster (Noise and Sharp)
  * Sampler
  * LegalClip
  * TemporalSmoother
- Added LanczosResize option.
- Fixed the identification bug of a "d2v" source as an "avi" source when
  opening FitCD with a source that was previously selected.
- Removed some (annoying?) commented lines at the end of the avisynth script.

I hope you all enjoy the new layout.
I needed to change it because of the space required by the new filters addition.

Please, help me make MovieStacker a better program by reporting any bug you find.
Thanks!

Update (28/Apr/03):
MovieStacker 2.00 BETA3 (full installer) (1.2MB)

If you have already downloaded MovieStacker 2.0 BETA, then you just need the BETA 3 update. It's a RAR file.
Decompress it in the same directory you have installed MovieStacker overwriting the old MovieStacker.exe file.
This update fixes the Letterbox Anamorphic bug and the VobSub configure dialog bug.

If you are having any troubles using the TextSub of MovieStacker, please
download this >vsub23.zip< file and extract it into your system32 directory.

@miksmith
I'm very proud of the installer... It's simple and clean. Put everything on the correct place, and you can choose if you want to create the shortcuts and the desktop icon. 8)
Why do you want a ZIPed version :?: :?

Bud 04-26-2003 02:36 AM

Nothing short of outstanding.......worked the first time I used it.....results were great......thanks to you and the team for putting this out...

But the setup lets you pick what directory to install it to, so it just makes the job that much easier.

Props to you Muad'dib, EXCELLENT job!!! :mnkypile:

HotAir 08-04-2003 05:25 PM

hot Item

:) This is one essential piece of software. I cannot wait for the full featured version 2.
Does anybody have any idea on its expected release date?

leo 08-30-2003 12:35 AM

Anxiously waiting

:D Hi guys, First of all, i think you are doing a great work here, this is a nice, clean, friendly site. I ended up here locking for a better way to backup some dvd and I think kvcd is the best, a good balance between quality and portability; I've been cheking this thread every single day waiting news on the next moviestacker version, I'm specialy interested in the compare feature coz u can see the effects of filters.
Thak you guys, and keep the good work.

Dialhot 08-30-2003 03:52 AM

You can see the effect of a filter "on the fly" with the direct show filter ffdshow.
In the settings you have a "avisynth" section where you can put a script to test. It will be applied on the video currently discplayed !

I just compare the effects of Atc() and Deen() with this and it's very nice !

Problems with ffdshow

:D Hi Dialhot, thanks for the tip. But I have problems activeting the ffd show filter, I just get a garbled image.
I have de ffdshow packed with the Elisoft codec pack, I will try to get another version and see if it works right.
I've found another soft (AVSGenie), it looks promising althoug a little bit complicated. I'm gonna play with it and coment later on.

Seen ya.

be warned that even if ffdshow includes a mpeg1/mpeg2 decoder, they do not work very well (for not saying "not at all" :-))

Test it with an avi before concluding it doesn't work on your PC.

Anyone got Moviestacker 2.0

The link site is down, I need the program as I'm in the middle of a conversion. System crash cost me my files including Moviestacker.
Also if anyone has a cheatsheet (guide) on what to do with Moviestacker 2.0 step by step, that would be great too.

How come so many links to stuff are dead? Is it anything to do with the recent server swap? :roll:

Hi EightBall,

Long time no see :D
Try the link again. I just moved it to another place.
The problem has been bandwidth, making a hole in my pocket with excess bandwith per month :!:
So I've had to resort to move data to different sites, to balance the load.

m0rdant 12-23-2003 06:06 PM

I'm getting ready to do a DVD 2 KVCD conversion after a long break...just wondering if there is any likely hood of their being a new version of this program...maybe one that supports the new MA optimal scripts ect.

kwag 12-23-2003 07:20 PM

Hi m0rdant,

We haven't heard from muaddib in a very long time, so don't hold your breath :!:

Avisynth

Which version of avisynth should i get to go with Moviestacker 2 beta3.

As i am following red's guide.

When i provide the source to moviestacker it does not show correct length of the movie.

rds_correia 02-28-2004 06:31 PM

Hi there,
As far as I know you could go with Avisynth v2.08 or even Avisynth 2.54.
The problem with 2.54 is that it will only allow you to produce a correct resize.
The other filters won't work.
Since Muaddib is back, maybe he'll have some time to develop a new version of MovieStacker
compliant with Avisynth v2.5x.
But that will surely take a while, of course.
So if you're new with Avisynth you will be better off with Avisynth 2.08 and current Moviestacker.
If you're already somewhat experienced you should use Avisynth v2.54 with a good script such
as the MA script that you can find at the Optimal Scripts section of the forum.
Cheers
