Hi,

since my DVD-Player doesn't support the 528x480 mpeg2 resolution, I want to ask, if the KVCDX3 template is optimized to that resolution. Does changing to 480x480 / 544x480 / 704x480 make a difference in picture quality or does it simply take less/more space?

Hi gokpog,

It's a basic rule: The higher the resolution, the larger the file size because of increased bit rate to maintain the same quality. The KVCDx3 is the "Happy medium" resolution of all! If your player can't play 528x480, try 544x480. Most probably it will play

No it doesnt make a difference changing the resolution to 528x480 or 480x480 as long as you use KVCDX3 300-2500 min. to max. Bitrate, as for 544x480 take a bit more space and 480x480 gives a bit more space with just about the same quality 480 ideal for a close to 2 hrs movie 544 good a a 90 min. size movie

THX kwag and ovg64!

One more question:
What happens to the "resize avs script line" (sth. like: BilinearResize(528, 366, 0, 0, 576, 336)) when I set the resolution in TMPGEnc to 480x480? And more important does it do sth. bad to the movie like getting a bad aspect ratio?

Where it says 3/4 DVD Small change that to SVCD youll now get 480x480 and
MovieStaker will automatically take care of aspec ratio, I would also use Bicubic Risize instead of Bilinear.

the higher the resolution, the clearer the image will be. but if the bitrate isn't enough for the resolution, you will see blocks.

you could use 544x480 (ntsc) 544x576 (pal). that will keep it close to the source.

480x480 is good. 352x480 will look a little blurrier but is still good.
