bad frames in KVCDs from divx avi sources?
Hi Guys,
I am currently encoding exclusively from Divx sources. I repeatedly see audio slippages and bad frames in resulting KVCD's with these sources. I'm a little perplexed as to their origins, but oh well... I load these source .avis into Vdub and scan the video for bad frames, and make the determination to encode or not from the resulting numbers it gives me. Should I be concerned only with bad frames, or are the 'good but unreadable' frames also a problem?? To date I've only used Vdub to snatch audio, and check for bad frames. It seems to be perfectly capable of re-assembling the .avi without the bad frames, but I honestly haven't looked into it yet. Any pointers?? |
Alittle app I have found good for scanning for bad frames is here
You can also use vitual dub to del bad frames when you find them and save the end result as a new avi but this app does all that anyways. |
Sounds pretty cool. I've got it running as I write this :D

Could corrupt frames in an .avi source cause audio to slip? Or is that something else I have to worry about?
|
Yes, I'm pretty sure, that those bad frames cause the slipping.
But you can take this tool called divx repair to fix it. http://divxrepair.sourceforge.net/ |

The beauty of Divx repair is that it deals with audio+video so if it removes any bad video frames it removes the corresponding audio to keep all in sync. |

I have had very little trouble with any damaged DivX. As most DivX/XviDs I've had are pretty much perfect...you should try to get them from a reliable source. *COUGH*sharereactor.com*COUGH*...
I have had some trouble though, so thanks for the tip about DivXRepair. :) |
@Pyromania,
lol, that's already in my favorites :wink: Thanks for all your help, fellas! That little program saved me a lot of frustration! |
