I got an Xvid (ntsc with 23,976 frames/s, 576x320)
What would be the best resolution to encode it with?

And another problem: every KVCD I downloaded from edonkey(am I allowed to mention that here, if not cut it out) could be played in my DVDplayer with hardly any problem.
But everything I experimented myself with (and this was A LOT since I came here first) has blocky artifacts and glitches, while the picture on the PC is without these. So I think my CD is allright...
Any kind of solution what could cause this?

Are your source files clean?

Any idea how the KVCDs you downloaded were encoded? Never downloaded one myself, but most of them are 352x240, which DVD players tend to have less trouble playing...download the Compatibility Image and see what works on your player.

You should always use the resolution which most closely matches that of your source file (also make sure your player handles the resolution you choose), so you should probably encode with the kvcdx3 template if your player handles this resolution.

As for blocky artifacts and glitches, I've found that burning kvcd's at speeds higher than 8x in my burner can lead to some blocks/glitches sometimes, but that may or not be your problem. I'd follow PyRo's advice if you haven't done that before already and make sure the templates you're trying to use actually work in your player. Good luck!
