I was just wondering if there was a consensus on what is the lowest CQ you would allow to still get good (VCD) quality on a movie before you would opt to lower the resolution to get the CQ to bump up.

I am currently encoding a divx conversion of Starship Troopers with ToK. I am using 352x576 template and am ending up with CQ in the 50's. Would it look better if i jumped up to a KVCD template even if i ended up with CQ in the 30's or 40's?

Not with the current matrix and GOP
I'd say that ~50 is about the bottom line now

..was just about to ask, how much picture quality degradation is needed to fit a movie on a CD...or even half a movie for that matter.
