OK here goes.....SmartRipper with Hollow Man (113 Min), ran DVD2AVI 1.76, Used your KDVD Template with TMPEGEnc 2.54 no changes to your template it gave me a total file size 2,433,259 Used Sonic MYDVD. Had no problem reading the file, however it gave me a total file size after conversion to the DVD format with supporting files of 3.71 GB. Played it back on a Pioneer DV 343. Came out GREAT. Only problem I see is can not get two movies on one DVD-R 4.7 GB unless we can make the files smaller and maintain the DVD quality. Used a Panasonic DVD-RAM LF321 to record on. Sonic MYDVD will allow for menu selection so if I had tow movies I could select the one to watch. So looks good for a start point.

MYDVD probably re-encoded the audio as PCM ( and maybe even the video ) . Look at the options on MYDVD and see if you can change the audio options. I tested in DVDit, and it worked correctly, without increasing the file size. Below is a cut of the post I wrote for DVDit. See if there's something similar in MYDVD.

Go to the Build tab and select Audio.
Under Audio Conversion, select "Convert all audio to Dolby Digital" and select 192Khz and 2/0 stereo channels.
If you don't do this, the program will re-encode your audio as PCM, and the resulting file size will be very huge.
Click "OK" to continue.

Sonic MYDVD won't allow for any changes in the file, it will just encode, my version of DVDit! is the Limited Edition (LE) (came with the burner) and some features (audio changes are grayed out). If I am missing something in eather software someone please let me know. So until I can get a good copy of DVDIt SE/PE or something else that will alow for the changes you suggest I will just keep doing the standard KVCD thing. The plus side of this is your KDVD works great and it appears it will convert to any standard DVD authoring softsware. Will keep you posted.
