bbMPEG Settings for SVCD Trick

Have been doing some research in the forum but could not find the right settings for multiplexing a KVCDx3 using the SVCD trick.
I have some mess in my head regarding the Add SVCD scan offsets, and Align sequence headers settings.

Can anybody post a picture of the correct settings?

Any help will be very useful.

Many thanks.

Take a look at this:

    4) Force mux rate = 0 (zero)
I am not sure if those settings are applicable to a standard SVCD or to perform the SVCD trick with mpg1 streams.
I still have a reasonable doubt, and that is the reason why I posted this topic.

Thanks.

By "Svcd trick" do you mean burning an mpeg1 video as svcd so you can play 528x480/576 on your standalone?

I have never had to mux as svcd, only burn as svcd in vcdeasy.

bbmpeg setting

in program stream setting

check svcd, vbr, write program end code, add svcd scan offsets
timesstamps = all frames
pulldown=auto
forced mux rate = 6972 (increase it if you have padding message)
size=2324
packets/pack=1
buffer size
video 230
audio 1: 4
audio 2: 4
startup
pack:0
vidoe: 180
audio 1: 180
audio 2: 180

Many thanks, will proceed to multiplexing now.

What about the Forced mux rate? ShouldnŽt it be 0?

I think that the forced mux rate is 0 only for vcds!

I always use the settings muaddib posted, and they work fine for me.... :?

Forced mux rate should be 0 (zero) even for SVCD.
This way you will let bbMPEG calculate the mux rate automatically.
If you set this value too low (the default value usually is) your mux rate will be too low for the data rate and you will start getting PTS/DTS underflow messages. If you get very few of these messages, the decoder buffer will handle it and you will not notice any problem, but if you get a lot of these messages your video will start to freeze while the sound goes on. Anyway, to avoid these problems, set it to 0 and be happy. :wink: File size will not be affected by it.

Now about sequence-header aligning and SVCD scan offsets.
The standard requires them, but no player does. :mrgreen:
They are not necessary for proper playback, and not using them can save you unnecessary overhead. :wink:

Thanks for this explanation, IŽll put the forced mux rate to 0 too!

Many many thanks, I will encode now restfully in the knowledge I got the right settings (and even knowing why they should be that way).

This sounds familiar to "KVCDs" :!:
The standard doesn't require them, but most players do like them :mrgreen:
