Why cant bbpeg open my KVCDx3 movie?

Hello,

I used the "KVCDx3-MPEG-2-PAL_100min-WideScreen_80min-FullScreen"
template in TmpgENC to encode my movie into one .mpg file.
I decided to split my movie into 2 files to burn on 2 cdr's so I used bbmpg.
However, when I try to "Add" my movie file bbmpeg is unable to open it and submits an "AVI2MPG2 - open file error".
I've tried other splitting programs out there and I get the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi W_K,

You're trying to add an .mpg to BBMpeg, and that won't work!.
Demux your .mpg with TMPEG tools, so that you get a .m2v and a .mp2 (video/audio files).
Now you can add the .m2v and the .mp2 to BBMPeg, and do a "time" cut or a "size" cut with BBMpeg options.

Edit: BTW, where did you get that template with the name "KVCDx3-MPEG-2-PAL_100min-WideScreen_80min-FullScreen"

Hi kwag,

The template is exactly http://www.kvcd.net/KVCDx3-MPEG-2-PAL.mcf
- I just added extra words to describe the template.

I did what you said with demuxing it under MPEG TOOLS in TmpgENC but it still can't open my movie.

I'm using:
TmpgENC 2.59.47.155
bbmpeg - avi2mpg2 v.124 beta 13

With the kvcdx3 template the only thing I alter is the source aspect ratio to "16:9 Display" everything else I leave alone.
(Btw is that better than 16:9 525 line & 16:9 625 line? I can't tell the diff."

Right now I'm going to dl & try other versions of bbmpeg to see it they work otherwise I'll just delete my movie and re-encode it to 2 smaller halves but its gonna take me a long-long time again.

Sheesh! This is getting frustrating.
Seems like no one can help.

P.S.

Thanks for the advice though!

First thing is move off tmpgenc 2.59. Its got a few bugs in it. tmpgenc is up to 2.512 now and it seems to work fine. Not sure if the mpeg tools in 2.59 had problems.

Cheers,

w_k,

how did u encode in tmpgenc?? did u use the wizard or do it manually, and what was the end encoded files' extendtion m1v/m2v or mpg??

and when u used bbmpeg what did u do?? also if ur using win XP u will need the patched XP dll file for win xp.

W_K 05-27-2003 12:43 PM

Heya,

Nope, I tried the bbmpeg latest version and beta and still the same result.
Damn!

Andybno1,
I encoded it manually in TmpgENC. Using the KVCDx3 template and only changing the source aspect ration.
The result is a single .mpg file, 1.28 GB in size, I then demuxed it exactly like how kwag told me in MPEG TOOLS to get 2 vid\sound files - m2v\mp2.
I am not using XP but 98'.
In bbmpeg (avi2mpg.EXE) under "File List" there is an "Add" button.
Clicked that and chose my movie - gave an "open file error."

Rhino,
Alright I'm getting TmpgENC version 2.511.51.160 to try out.
Also going to find me sum Mpeg2 codecs to dl so I can give the "Merge & Cut" function in MPEG Tools a shot as well.

Anybody know any mpeg2 codecs out there & where to dl apart from the crapy Elecard one?

Any more ideas on how to solve my problem is greatly appreciated.

- W_K.

two places I can think of for mpeg-2 codecs are:

1. Digital Digest
and
2. DVDR Help Tools Page

there is a mpeg-2 plugin for tmpgenc on the DVDR Help Page.

as for muxing with bbmpeg:

Load BBMpeg (avi2mpeg2)
Click Start encoding / Settings / Input output Files tab, click Open PS select where u wanna save the muxed file and state a file name for it, still in input/output files tab, click open vs and point it to the m2v file then click Open AS1 and point it at the mp2 file (if there r any other audio streams u wanna add click the other as buttons).

now click program stream settings and set that tab to this screenshot. Now click the general settings tab and set that tab to this screenshot, now click ok and then start and bobs ur uncle it is now muxing the two files together.

andybno1 your screenshot links don't work anymore. I was wondering what the mpeg2 settings were for BBMpeg to create K(S)VCDs as well! The sticky at the top of this forum is only for KVCDs. Thanks

excuse me to jump here friends....
:)
i was searching but can't find one thread where muaddib proove that
with a little adjusts in BBmpeg for svcd give better result and with
small final size after mux.
i did lots of svcds and cvds using his recomendations
:!:
this are the adjusts...
in the andybno1 picture from BBmpeg:

uncheck:  Add SVCD scan offsets
after
uncheck:  Align sequence headers
and
adjust:  Forced mux rate (in 50 bytes/sec units):  0(zero)

try and you got less final size and works fantastic!

For my part when I have a mpeg a little to big for beeing burned on a CD (even with overburn) I demux/remux under tmpgenc and I save 5-10 Mb on a 800 Mb video :!:

I really don't understand why the muxing of tmpgeng is so unfamous. Any idea ?

jorel 07-16-2003 07:16 AM

Phil,

i'm testing now using for svcd:
video 247mb,audio 35,9mb!

mux in BBmpeg with the adjusts like i post:
287mb (294.801kb)

mux in Tmpgenc plus 2513(full,no crack),mpeg tools, simple multiplex:
287mb (294.505kb)

seems the same?
now i will show the problem:
open nero and load the file muxed in BBmpeg:
compilation info:  259.978kb

now delete the BBmpeg file and load the file muxed in Tmpgenc:
i got  big advice:....bla,bla,bla....choose:
turn off standard,re-encode the video file or cancel?
then i choose  turn off standard compliance and continue
compilation info:  294.682kb 8O 8O 8O
the file muxed in tmpgenc is too big :!: :? :? :? :?

i see many posts here talking about sincro problems
and big final sizes muxing in tmpgenc.

i don't test the files after i encode a few moments,
don't know about sincro,quality,etc...i only post the final sizes after mux.

:)

You probably forgot to force TMPGEnc to mux as "Super VideoCD". If you let it mux as "MPEG2 Program", that's not correct.

I never (never ever) had problems when muxing with TMPGENC, either with MPEG1 (but muxed as SVCD) or MPEG2 (SVCD too).

The problem is that when you load a M2V video, the toggle swich automatically to MPEG2 Program and you have change it by hand _after_ the load.

I did 4 CD last sunday including 24 video all muxed with TMPGENC as SVCD and no desynch. And the size of each file drop by 1 ou 2 Mb with this operation (files encoded by Tok, so firstly muxed with BBMPEG).

So....

Note : I burn evrything with NERO

jorel 07-16-2003 08:30 AM

:D

right Phil,
you are right again...(as always) :!:

i did exact like you posted using the same:
video 247mb,audio 35,9mb and adjusting in
Tmpgenc plus 2513(full,no crack),mpeg tools,simple multiplex:
after a i load the files i choose:  MPEG-2 super VideoCD (VBR)
muxing i got:  287mb (294.041kb)

open nero and load the file muxed in Tmpgenc (Phil way)
8O
compitalition info:  259.308kb
less size then using BBmpeg :!:

thanks Phil,
one more goal for you my friend!

ps:
@ all:
Kwag,Phil,Jell,friendalunit,bp,netten,zooter,GFR,S h0dan,Del,hedix,muaddib

what a big team!
