KVCD: I can only set CQ value below 50?
 

Hi there,
Getting a movie less than 110 minutes on a single CD-R is what I have been trying to do for a very lone time. Due to thousands of failures, I use 2 CD-Rs instead of 1 since a long long time ago. But I really want to know what have I done wrong.

My source is always DVD, the original aspect ratio is 2.35:1 (which is the shortest in height available in DVD, I guess), sometimes the aspect ratio is 1.85:1. I used SKVCD but change the resolution to 480x480 instead of 352x480 but it is still smaller than 544x480. I convert audio to 128Kbps (MP2). I tried every script combinations including the latest script thread in the forum. I did set TV overscan to 2. I just don't know why I can't set CQ anything higher than 50 to keep video stream under 700MB (the quality of 50CQ is not acceptable to me). I set the min. bitrate to 600 and max. bitrate to 2200, still fail. What CQ value do you people have to fit a FULL movie onto 1 CD-R? What is your script? Thanks in advance.

Raising your min. bitrate (600) is going to be pretty though to fit all in one CD I would think. Thats why you are at 50%CQ.

I used exactly the same script as posted in "Latest Script"

I purposely increase the height as you can see above, but it is not that much, I don't think it is the cause of the problem.

I think ovg64 hit the nail on the head. At 110 minutes, the average bitrate can only be something like 850, so a minimum of 600 is way high and will knock your CQ value down. Try using the standard template values of 300/2500 and see what happens.
