Why is 528x a standard resolution, and not 544x?
It seems like a lot of players (mine included!) will not work with 528x480, but will work with 544x480.
Do players that work with 528x480 ALSO work with 544x480? If so, wouldn't it make for greater compatibility if 544x480 was considered as a standard resolution instead of 528x480? Just curious! Icarus |
I totally agree with you, there seem to be more players that can play 544x480/576 than players that can play 528x480/576 8O
I haven't seen a player yet, that can only play 528x480/576 and not 544x480/576... However don't be fooled, those resolutions are both non-standard! |
Same with my player, it does'nt work with resolution 528x480/576 but it does with 544 :)

528x480 was the original laserdisc resolution. But most NTSC laserdiscs used the variation of 544x480. Most PAL laserdiscs used 528x576 apparently, although in theory there is also a 544x576... not sure why DVD players read them, as you couldnt really put a laserdisc in a DVD drive.. :?

You could try, but I think it would void your warranty! 8O -Icarus |
Hey Pyro,
If I ever invite you to a B.BQ., I'd make sure I give you a small fork, and I would definitively hide the lawn rake 8O  -kwag |
