getting scratch blocks from video encoded with tmpgenc?
 

I haven't yet confirmed this but I've watched some of the most recent encodes with the latest version of TmpEnc and during the last few (10 to 15 min) minutes of a movie (even a 2 cd set) that I'm getting scratch blocks, like you would get from a dvd that's been heavily scratched. I have to go back to previous encodes and determine if its the player ( panasonic rv 26) or the latest encodes but I've never seen this type of behavior before. Anyone else noticed this?

I haven't seen that with the latest script, and I'm using the latest version of TMPEG. I also switched to AviSynthh 2.52.

The same here :( .
I was encoding the movie Enough, a 116min 4:3 movie (FILM & Progressive), and used 704x480 for 2CDs, 112k audio, and the 6th June script for version 2.52 (maybe the second last script).
In the last few minutes we have a fight scene with high action, then I see a lot of noise, like a interlaced scratch :x .
I don't know if it`s happening only with 2 CDs encodes.
The last info: Tmpgenc v.2.511.51.160 :wink:

exactly are YOU experiencing. Maybe two different thing all-together 8O

But, as it was said, it could be the DVD movie. But, also, it could be the
TV set you are watching on, and also the PC monitor you are testing too.

Have you ever encoded a scratched disk? You get broken blocks in spots where the information is garbled. I tried the same disk on my computer and it looked clean, no blocks. But my computer plays everything where the home player doesn't, like if I accidentally muxed a 48khz audio to the video and played it on the computer its perfect but on my home player it will play jerky.
I'm still working on isolating the problem. It could be dvdshrink, it could be the latest version of Tmpgenc, it could be the blockbuster filter or it could just be my player. I'll figure it out eventually and post back here.

Not exactly. But..
I've got one of the original 007 Goldfinger VCD (2 disk) and on one
of the disk, it spits out colorful pixel blocks at a certain scene. ..if that's
what you are refering to
This VCD was left on a hot service (top of my monitor for some time, and
I didn't know about it - - could have ben there a year)
I bought that VCD disk set back in '96 I believe.. and at TOP's @ $24.. the
sales man was demo'ing this VCD to some customers, while I was peeping
a look'seez. I was sold. ..Another reason of how I got into VCD creation and things, hehe..

I think I NOW know what you're talking about here. And, it's not just only
the reason I laid out above, but also comes in many other flavors.

I do hope you narrow it down to the culprit. But, if you ask me, I truely
believe it can be narrowed down to one of the "filters" you used :idea:
If you can duplicate the steps (leaving nothing) in your last encode that
gave you these issues, you should be able to re-duplicate w/out worry, of
those issue, then, just leave out a filter or all and see where that leaves ya.

Well, I found another encode with scratch blocks. I did Die Another Day (pretty good movie for a James Bond flick) and in the scene where they are doing the sword fight the blocks started showing up again for a few minutes then went away for the rest of the movie. I'm suspecting DVDshrink as the problem, I was using that program just to rip the dvd. I'm now going back to DVDDecrypter for ripping and see if the blocks go away. I've also dropped blockbuster since I'm do 2 cd sets at high res and blockbuster doesn't help above 528x480. Check back with you all later.
