kvcd: set bitrate in TMPGenc, instead of file predicting?
 

I'm just wondering if I am just able to do this is TMPGenc. Load the video (A divx or Xvid file) and load the audio (Wav file) and then the output file and then load template for KVCD and then encode....just like I do for Mpeg-1 for VCD. Is there a way I can do that instead of all this file predicating and stuff. I dont care the output file size or anything like that.....I'm just wondering if I can do it all just like that or not.

Also....why isn't there a template for 29 framerate just for 23....am I suppose to convert the framerate too???

Hi Maikeru,

Just change any of the templates to process audio + video, and change the frame rate to 29.97fps. Now encode your audio and video just like that, and you'll end up with a regular quality VCD. You might as well use one of the standard TMPEG VCD templates, because you won't gain anything with the standard method and KVCD templates. Just a huge file size ans plain old VCD quality :?

But if I use your guide to do it, I will have a kvcd quality on a VCD....also if the video is 29 frame rate....Which template do I load with tmpgenc or if I use your guide will I have to use tmpgenc at all?

You can, but quality will be very poor.
If you want to do that with excelent quality, you'll need to use file predictions and the methods we expose here. Go to www.kvcd.net and look under "Articles". There you'll find the "KVCD From Scratch Guide", which will guide you step by step.

Just wondering...If I do it through tmpgenc and just use the KVCD and change the framerate manually, the video will be the same as the regular tmpgenc settings, the only difference is that the video will do a 120min instead of an 80min. ----- Just to let you know I'm just converting anime episodes to put onto vcd. I really dont want to do that long process for every single episode....that would take forever. ---

Why don't you try the program "ToK" :idea:
This will automatically calculate the correct CQ for your movie, and then encode the movie. The only thing you have to do is multiplex your audio and video streams, and burn your CD-R :!:

If I do that will I need to use avisynth or anything like that.... are you telling me that I can just use Tok all by itself and I can do it? If you could please tell me, that be awesome if I could just do it with that.
