What are the basic codecs necessary to play KVCDs?

The service on this site is top notch :D

Let's start the discussion.

What are the basic codecs necessary to play with Kwag's toys?

Assuming DVD, DivX, Video capture are the big 3 sources.

I am using "Multimedia Essentials" to install my codec base. I then install on demand others such as:

Elkard MPEG2 (works great for ReplayTV files)

Quicktime (better to put on the most recent than let my daughters PC games install some garbage)

And I install ReClock. It is not a codec but it really works great for play back adjustements on the fly.

well, i donīt know, what "multimedia essentials" is, but i do not use such "all-in-one" codec packs. if i need a codec, i get it and install it and save it on my hdd, so i got a pretty big codec-archiv till now.

but thatīs better, because i made the experience, that some codecs wonīt work well in combination with the codec-packs.
