They are continuing to supply the full version for free to all who had donated in the past. (Best money I ever spent) :D

If I understood well, the 1.1.5 as an hidden expiration date that expires tomorrow (21th june).

That means that all people (everyone ?) that had dl the 1.1.5 when it was out, and erased the 1.1.4 from their HD will have to paid. And nothing warned them before yesterday !

I understand the reasons that lead to a shareware version, but I find this trick not very fair play.

jorel 06-20-2003 08:27 AM

yes Dialhot,
this is the reason of my "oh no..."

the 1.1.5 as an hidden expiration date that expires tomorrow (21th june).
...not very fair play.
:(

1.1.4 just drop me a message.

vhelp 06-21-2003 11:52 AM

@ JoZ.. pal.

Tanx 4 da link. I'm D/L'ing it now. I'm sure I have an older version laying
around here somewhere on my HD, but I hadn't kept up w/ the reviz's

I take it that this version does not have that nasty "fal play" nonense ??

Thanks,

I got zapped by the hidden expiration date this morning when I woke up. I wouldn't mind paying for this software as I find it very useful, but does that price include free lifetime upgrades? I didn't see any mention of that on the site. If I get free upgrades to new versions I may do it.

You have to wonder at these guys, when they practice these sort of
stuff like this.

I'm happy to see that they have fixed this issue.. true marksmen.

Just something to think about, in the business world of business practices

Later all.

Just found out about the hidden expiry today. I agree with vhelp about the shady practices, seems everyone is getting less honest in business nowadays... :(

Thanks for the link to 1.1.4 JoZ! :D

EDiT: Having actually read the things on the site, I can kind of see why they did this... Obviously it must be annoying to have hardly anyone donate and people steal VCDEasy to sell for their own profit. And it does say in 1-2 years VCDEasy might go back to freeware for good. I still think it was dishonest... but I can see what made them decide to do it.

There is now a official VCDEasy 1.1.5.2 (last freeware version with no deliberate limitation and no expiration) at http://www.vcdeasy.org.

JoZ 07-03-2003 09:42 PM

You can download it from here:
