Hi Dj-Rainer,

Did you check the guides available on the main page at www.kvcd.net
Look on the right side, under "Articles"

Why If you encode the audio with TMPEG, you'll never get the quality that you will get with HeadAC3he or BeSweet
Also, you should multiplex with BBMpeg, and avoid TMPEG's internal mux. BBMpeg creates more compatible mpeg streams.

That is the only way to get a quality output.

Following the guide gives upsurpassed quality. The only change I make is I leave the video in its elemental stage, one .MPV file and one .AC3 file. This is due to the fact I use DVD-Lab to author the DVD and it works much better using elemental streams.

My procedure is:

1. Capture with AVI_IO using the Huffy codec (lossless) and 48Khz 16 Bit Stereo.

2. If editing is needed use either VirtualDub or Premiere.

3. Convert the video in TMPGEnc using the KVCD template. With the Stream Type set to ES (Video and Audio). Leaving the audio unchanged .

4. Use HeadAC3he to convert the audio to AC3

5. Author the elemental streams in DVD-Lab.
Including Custom "Play First" Introduction, Root Menu and Switched Menus for Chapters.

6. Test the DVD from the hard drive using Power DVD 4.

7. Burn the DVD in Nero using DVD-ROM (UDF) setting for compatibility.

Using these 7 simple steps I end up with a DVD that is customized to my taste, professional looking and quality as good, or sometimes better (VHS source) than the original.

A fellow in another forum has the following signature line:

"Any one can burn a DVD, but quality takes time and effort."

Hope this helps.
