Can't find the right audio track

I went about decoding my vob files in Dvd2Avi as usual, but this time track 1 must not have been the one I wanted. It has the director's commentary. I went to track 2 and went through the decode again and no new file was made. Do I have to go through all 8 tracks listed in the Audio menu to find the one I one? Is there an easier way??

maybe reading the log of the rip program or
in the dvd2avi preview using " f5 ".

well, the log of the rip program (DVD Decryptor) is long gone and the preview window of Dvd2Avi only show Timestamp for Audio. I don't see any info like tracks there at all.

before the timestamp, you can see the format :!:
maybe the format give some hint.
change the audio track number and you see
differents informations in the preview.

:)

Okay, you're right. I checked in DVD2AVI preview, only Track 1 has an audio. The Format window says DD 2/0 192. But the file that resulted from the DVD2AVI decode is only 92.6 MB and is 8:26 long, it is a voice commentary track on the movie.

What went wrong?

if you don't have more audio tracks to select,
you will need to rip the dvd again.
maybe you choose only track 1 when you rip the vobs, don't?

As I load the DVD again in DVD Decryptor, I see in Stream Processing there is only one Audio Channel listed, 0x80 Audio, AC3. (And one video)

Does that indicate a problem?

Does Stream Processing have to be checked?

jorel 06-24-2003 05:17 AM

yes.
i don't use dvd decryptor,
i use smartrip and can see all audio language options,
dvd decryptor will do the same, of courde.

well,you have a dvd,then ,
all languages and audio tracks
will be choosed in the ripper.

Don't use stream processing. Use IFO mode. Check your settings, or reset DVDDecrypter to use defaults.

I'm really confused on this one. The ripped VOB files play fine on my software player, the audio is good. But the output wav file from DVD2AVI is only the first 8 minutes of the audio (the right audio track, not a commentary track as I originally posted).

What can I do to get the audio track?

Is there another program other than DVD2AVI that I should try to decode the audio?

Choose "Demux" instead of "Decode" in DVD2AVI, so you'll get the AC3 audio track instead of a WAV. Then encode the AC3 track with HeadAC3he.

I should have mentioned that I tried that. The resulting ac3 file was corrupt when I tried to convert it in Headac3he.

Does 148 MB sound right for the size of the ac3 from dvd2avi? Movie is about 1 hour 47 minutes.

jorel 06-25-2003 05:50 PM

148mb seems short!

the ac3 corrupt from dvd2avi?
8O
please,explain again.
:?

hints:
use dvd2avi 176 to make your file(d2v and ac3) and
download the HeadAC3he for your cpu type.

Yes, the demux file from dvd2avi, the ac3 file (148 MB), when loaded into Headac3he and tried converting to mp2, get error message: "Bad syncword at frame 751, AC3 stream is probably corrupt".
